Assassin's Creed Valhalla Is Finally Getting New Game+ on November 5

Ubisoft is adding a New Game+ mode to Assassin's Creed Valhalla starting November 5, 2026, almost exactly four years after publicly stating the feature would never arrive.

What the update adds

The announcement comes directly from Jean Guesdon, Head of Content for the Assassin's Creed franchise, in a post published October 29, 2026 covering the series' plans for the coming months. New Game+ lets players restart Eivor's story while carrying over much of their existing progression, with dedicated scaling built for a second playthrough rather than a plain reset.

The update also introduces an optional Power system, where Eivor's gear, runes and masteries contribute to an overall score, along with new runes, new achievements, a stash system and rewards, including a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe's look from Assassin's Creed Shadows. A new resource called Mithril is used to upgrade Divine Gear and strengthen runes. Full details are promised in upcoming patch notes.

A clear reversal

The contrast with Ubisoft's previous stance is stark. On November 18, 2022, the publisher stated plainly that it would not add New Game+ to Valhalla, explaining that "the depth of the game gave us limited options to make replayability unique and rewarding." The game had surpassed 20 million players at the time. It has now passed 40 million, and the community's most requested feature since the 2020 launch is finally arriving, with no public comment from Ubisoft on what changed.

The rest of the franchise's "Fall 2026" update

In the same post, Ubisoft confirms that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced (released July 9, 2026) is getting its final major update, adding its own New Game+ and a Nightmare Mode, with the update marking "the end of our current plans for additional major content" for that remaster. Ubisoft also states that no other Assassin's Creed remake is currently actively in development, while Codename Hexe (in development at Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind Valhalla) will receive its next major update in 2027. Invictus remains in development, with no release date given for the franchise's Netflix series.

The bottom line

Assassin's Creed Valhalla's New Game+ arrives November 5, 2026, with its own progression system and several new additions (Power, Mithril, stash, achievements). It's a clear reversal from Ubisoft's official 2022 position, one the publisher hasn't explained. Players looking for a genuine reason to start a new run, rather than just resetting the save, finally have one.
