The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered Is Out Now

CD Projekt Red launched The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on September 29, 2026, on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Free or paid: it depends on your platform

On PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, GOG, Epic), it's a free upgrade for anyone who already owns the game: no new purchase, no new library entry, just a patch that replaces the existing game.

Nintendo Switch 2 is different: the Remastered version is its own separate eShop listing. If you already owned The Witcher 3 on the original Switch, you get it free. If you never owned it on Switch (even if you own it on PS4, PC, or elsewhere), you'll need to buy it as a new game, around $59.99 / £45.99. Battle.net and the Microsoft Store also have no free-upgrade path: those are new listings, purchase only.

PS4 and Xbox One owners aren't affected: the Remastered version doesn't run on those consoles, which keep the original version (with Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine included free if you didn't already have them).

What actually changed

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, the two expansions, are now bundled with the base game by default for all current owners.

Songs of the Past: a real new expansion, just not yet

CD Projekt Red used the launch to reveal Songs of the Past, a brand-new paid expansion planned for 2027, developed with Fool's Theory. It's set in an entirely new region called Letten, described as "a seemingly idyllic land that hides a dark secret," featuring a new chain weapon and new enemy types. It will also release on Battle.net through a partnership with Blizzard.

What about the trophies?

Good news if you're chasing the Platinum: on PS5, the Remastered version changes absolutely nothing about the trophy list. Still the same 79 (1 Platinum, 2 Gold, 8 Silver, 68 Bronze), same requirements, and any trophies you've already earned along with your save file carry over untouched. Our full guide stays fully accurate as-is.

The bottom line

If you already own The Witcher 3 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC, just update the game to get the rebuilt skill tree, reworked combat, and PS5 Pro support, for free. On Switch 2, it depends on whether you already owned the game on the older console. And most importantly: no need to restart your save or redo your trophy checklist, everything carries over.
